Busy Weekend pt. 2

On Friday we really didn't do anything but lounge about. On Saturday we went to visit our friends in Ornans for a barbecue. If you remember, our friends from Ornan are Canadians, but had lived in America for a while before finally moving to France. Therefore, it was an actual barbecue with real hamburgers and real bacon! Afterwards we walked around Ornans and also stayed for dinner which was potée. Potée is a variety of meats, typically ham, sausage, and some other pork product like shoulder or belly, with cabbage, carrots, potatoes, and cannellini/white beans slow cooked in a pot or dutch oven. I ate around the meat, but it was still very good!
On Sunday we went to a forest with our friends from Boston. It's a well-known forest with large trails. At the parking lot there are also sites for camp fires. It also serves as a reserve for reindeer and wild boar. To keep them safe from humans they are fenced in, but the size of each pen is enormous. It's amazing that there are such things so close to the city! It's only about a 20 - 25 minute car ride away.
