I can now legally work in France! I got a text from the prefecture, which I find hilarious considering most of working France is practically technophobic. You should see the websites here, they're so poorly formatted and a lot of big businesses don't even have their own website. One of the largest supermarkets in France doesn't even have a search bar or list of products on their website. So I was very surprised to get a text from a government-run entity. Anywho the text said I could pick it up any weekday after 1:30 so I went on a Wednesday and lo-and-behold they're closed every Wednesday.
So I went the next day and got it. It was snowing huge chunks of snowflakes, the kind that get stuck together on the way down and by the time they reach us they're at least the diameter of a quarter. It was gorgeous and I felt like the world was telling me everything was going to work out. However, a month and two rejected applications later, I'm starting to have my doubts. I still have hope applying as a teacher's assistant, but the problem with that is school is almost over so I'd have to wait until next school year. It'd be a nice job though as I'd only work from October to April.
It's be a huge relief to have a job, that's for sure. We're getting by pretty well, it is way easier to life in the lower-middle class bracket in France than it is in the US, especially in New Jersey, but we definitely don't have the money to travel and site-see so that's what my income would mostly be used for. And who wants to live in another country and not site-see?
